The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says at least 5,081 people were killed in road traffic crashes (RTCs) in 2023 nationwide as against 6,456 in 2022. During a media briefing to mark the end of the corps’ Operation Zero Tolerance on Monday in Abuja, the corps marshal, Dauda Ali-Biu, said the figure represented a 21 per cent reduction. The Lagos State Government has imposed an absolute ban on the use and distribution of Styrofoam, sometimes known as takeaway packs, and other single-use plastics throughout the state, effective immediately. The Police Command in Lagos State says its operatives have arrested three suspected cultists in the Ishashi area of the state. The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.
