A stoppage-time strike from Angel Correa saw Atletico Madrid deny city rivals Real Madrid all three points during an incident-laden LaLiga clash at the Cívitas Metropolitano. Inside a fervent stadium, it was a relatively cagey opening as both sides felt their way into the first Derbi de Madrid of the season. Julián Alvarez, playing in his first Derbi for Atlético, had the first chance of the game nine minutes in when he shrugged off Antonio Rudiger and tested Thibaut Courtois from a narrow angle. Los Blancos took until 17 minutes to work Jan Oblak, stinging the Slovenian keeper’s palms with…

Israel struck more targets in Lebanon on Sunday, pressing Hezbollah with new attacks after killing the Iran-backed group’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and a string of its other top commanders in an escalating military campaign. The attacks have dealt a stunning succession of blows to Hezbollah after almost a year of cross-border fire, killing much of its leadership and revealing gaping security holes. Israel’s defence minister is now discussing widening the offensive. Following the death of Nasrallah – killed in a massive airstrike in Beirut on Friday – Hezbollah fired new fusillades of rockets into Israel, while Iran said his…
Osasuna had an incredible evening to remember as they defeated Barcelona 4-2 in La Liga, with Bryan Zaragoza’s first-half goal and assist combo helping the Rojillos emphatically end a run of five winless head-to-heads against the Blaugrana. Los Rojillos showed plenty of early intent, especially with balls behind Barcelona’s youthful backline, although the visitors initially stood firm with Eric García flying out to block a Zaragoza strike. Ante Budimir then made a burst up the pitch on the quarter-hour mark before smashing an attempt that fizzed agonisingly wide of the far post. The Croatian opened the scoring soon after, as…
Cole Palmer became the first player in Premier League history to score four first-half goals in the same match as Chelsea came out on top in a scintillating game that saw Brighton & Hove Albion lose for the first time in the league this season. A chaotic first half of football saw an early mix-up at the back for Chelsea, with former Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sánchez coming off his line to claim a looping ball but being beaten to it by Georginio Rutter, who headed into an empty net. At the other end, Palmer was involved in everything for the…
