The oil company said that eight persons (6 passengers and 2 crew members) were aboard the helicopter operated by East Winds Aviation. “On the 24th of October 2024, about 11:22am, we lost contact with the Helicopter – Register Number: 5NBQG, engaged by NNPC Limited, that took off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route the FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN. The Government of Canada has announced measures to tackle population growth by lowering the number of permanent residents coming to the country. The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Marc Miller, on Thursday, announced that rather than the 500,000 yearly slots for permanent residents, the country would be lowering the numbers for the next three years. It said the new measure would come into effect from 2025. According to him, the country will welcome 395,000 permanent residents in 2025; 380,000 in 2026, and 365,000 in 2027. The United States imposed a fine of $89 million on Apple and Goldman Sachs on Wednesday, alleging that they misled users regarding the credit card offered by the iPhone manufacturer. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) reports that hundreds of thousands of users of the Apple Card, launched in collaboration with a major US bank in 2019, have experienced problems with customer service and inaccuracies. Apple did not transmit tens of thousands of customer disputes regarding credit card transactions to Goldman Sachs, and when it eventually did, the bank failed to adhere to federal standards for investigating these claims, according to the bureau. A Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday sacked the Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission(KANSIEC), Sani Malumfashi, for being a member of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party. The case was filed by Aminu Tiga and the All Progressive Congress. The defendants in the suit are the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Dederi, and 14 others.
