Gunmen attacked an army checkpoint early on Wednesday at Ekenobizi, a border community between Abia and Imo states in Umuopara, Umuahia South Local Government Area, killing two soldiers. Nigeria has recorded 1,035 confirmed cases of Lassa fever out of 8,569 suspected cases, with 174 deaths in 28 states across 129 local government areas as of October 13, 2024. North Korea signed a treaty with Russia calling for a “comprehensive strategic partnership,” Pyongyang’s state-controlled news agency KCNA reported on Tuesday.
