The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has divided the Progressive Governors Forum, a platform for APC-elected governors. While 13 governors are backing the Abiola Ajimobi-led National Working Committee, seven others are opposed to it. The seven governors, who have branded themselves as “reformists,” are desperate to hijack the party’s structure ahead of the 2023 general election. The 13 governors have, however, described the seven governors as “day dreamers” and “people driven by hubris.” The crisis is not sitting well with some stakeholders who are now pleading for peace. The immediate past national chairman of the APC, Chief…

Traore was also involved in the second goal, substitute Pedro Neto volleying home Matt Doherty’s cross as Wolves, who started the day in seventh, moved above Sheffield United and level on points with fifth-placed Manchester United. West Ham remain in trouble…
Oshawo Stephen, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako West Ward 10, says the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as a member of the party has not been lifted. He said that the ward executives stood by their decision to suspend the erstwhile national chairman. Stephen in a statement, said the ward executives who were elected into office in 2018 remain intact and have not been displaced by anybody, describing the claims of the lifting of the suspension as a charade. According to him, “The suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the ward executives remains valid. The statements…
*Healthcare funding increases with stimulus package, VP adds Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic globally, the Buhari administration will not relent in its efforts towards improving the country’s healthcare infrastructure and economy, while creating more jobs for millions of Nigerians in different sectors, supporting small businesses, local production and manufacturing, as well as extending the social safety net for the most vulnerable in society. A US judge has rejected a request by President Donald Trump to stop the publication of a memoir by his former National Security Adviser, John Bolton. The justice department argued that the book had not been properly vetted. Judge Royce Lamberth of the US District Court in Washington DC said Mr Bolton had “gambled” with US national security and “exposed his country to harm”. But he ruled that the government had “failed to establish that an injunction would prevent irreparable harm”. Hundreds of thousands of copies of the book – The Room Where It Happened – have been printed and distributed,…
The Insight by Lateef Adewole “The way Oshiomole is dashing us states, sometimes we would think he is our agent working for us for free. Since he became chairman of APC, we have recovered 6 states, and Edo could be next.” The above quote was attributed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Uche Secondus. Even though PDP has not really fared much better as the opposition party in this democratic dispension given their docility and uncoordination to give APC a run for their money, the ruling party has continued to swim in muddled water. They have always moved…
Neal Maupay scored the winner five minutes into added time as relegation-threatened Brighton clinched a huge win over Arsenal, who once again lost a key player to injury. The French striker showed coolness and class to slot in his ninth and most important goal of the season, win the game for Albion and cap a remarkable comeback. Nicolas Pepe had fired the Gunners into a deserved lead with a superb curling shot with just over 20 minutes to go, but Lewis Dunk scrambled an equaliser over the line from close range to set up a barnstorming finish. Maupay’s winner was…
Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno was carried off on a stretcher with what looked like a serious knee injury during his side’s game at Brighton. The game was stopped in the first half while Leno received treatment on the pitch after his knee appeared to give way after landing awkwardly. German Leno sat up as he was being carried off and pointed at Brighton’s Neal Maupay, who had challenged him. He was replaced by Emiliano Martinez for the rest of the game. Late drama as Watford draw Leicester Former England and Chelsea winger Karen Carney, who is covering the match for…
Ben Chilwell and Craig Dawson traded excellent stoppage-time goals as a largely tepid lunchtime Premier League encounter exploded into late life at an empty Vicarage Road. England full-back Chilwell looked to have taken the points for Leicester when he crashed an unstoppable effort past Ben Foster and in off the far post for just his fourth career goal. But there was still time for Dawson to hook home an improbable scissor kick in the third minute of added time to edge Watford a point above the relegation zone. The Hornets have rebuilt their season on a base of strong home…
