The House of Representatives has requested documentary evidence of over $11 billion withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) between 2005 and 2007 during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration. Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Power Sector Reform and House Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa issued the directive after a presentation before the committee by Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) Ahmed Idris. Eyitayo Jegede early Thursday morning won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket in Ondo state. He will challenge the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who is lost to in the 2016 election. Jegede polled 888 to defeat seven others including deputy governor Agboola Ajayi, who defected from the APC to PDP to contest for the ticket. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 543 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday. The 543 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 38344. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 138 patients from isolation centers across the country with eight new deaths reported. The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of 39 non-career and one career ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The confirmation of the nominees was sequel to the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs during plenary. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is set to arraign the duo of Sarah Omeigha Ajibola and John Ozovehe Demide before a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, for allegedly conspiring to rig the 2018 general elections of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA. Justice J. K.Dagat of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Wednesday convicted and sentenced Saad Ahmed Madaki to ten years imprisonment. He was arraigned by the Kano Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on one- count charge of obtaining money under false pretense. Troubles came for the convict when he was arrested by the Kano State Joint Task Force, on an allegation that he was connected to terrorism.
