Benue court remands ex-BSIEC boss over fraud

A Lagos Federal High Court, today, convicted two men, Uche Johnson and Kingsley Meteke, for producing and distributing substandard engine oil. The court presided over by Justice Oluremi Oguntoyibo convicted them after they pleaded guilty to the offence and admitted to have adulterated 128 drums and 9.45 litres of engine oil. She sentenced them to two years imprisonment each. They were charged with four counts of production, possession, dealing in and distribution of substandard engine oil. Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) told the court that the defendants indulged in production of engine oil which did not meet mandatory industrial standards.…

Nigerian reality TV show Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) has officially announced the audition schedule for its upcoming tenth season.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, never directed that the fifth edition of reality television show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) be shut down, an official in the ministry has disclosed. Reports had claimed that he had directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to shut down the Big Brother House, which is the facility hosting the show. Rescuers recover three bodies, save 12 in Ogun building collapse

A two-storey building has collapsed in Ebute Metta area of Lagos on Friday trapping residents inside and leaving some injured. Gabriel Oluokun has been jailed 30 years for fraud

Gabriel Adekola Oluokun, 30, was on Thursday sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for defrauding a Taiwanese to the tune of $22,300. The convict was prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a six-count amended charge of obtaining money by false pretence for which he was found guilty and convicted.
