The Presidential Panel on Reform of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has recommended that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) dismisses 37 police officers. They were found wanting following an investigation into allegations of human rights violations and abuse of office against SARS. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 212 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Friday. The 212 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 61,194. At least i18 students and staff of a private boarding school in the southwest state of Lagos have tested positive for coronavirus, a state official has said. Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the cases were discovered during surveillance and case investigation in the school. There are 141 students and staff in the school. Giving details of the investigation, Abayomi explained that a 14-year-old SS1 female student fell ill on October 3 and was sent home after receiving first aid at the school. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has revealed the identities of police officers who attacked #EndSARS protesters in Surulere on Monday, 12 October.
