The Federal Government has approved N4 billion as a bailout fund to airlines to cushion the effects of the impact of the devastation of COVID-19 on their operations. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 111 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday. The 111 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 62,964. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 115 patients from isolation centers across the country with two new deaths reported. The White House has accused leading infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci of playing politics days before the election in an interview about the coronavirus pandemic. Dr Fauci told the Washington Post the US was in for a “whole lot of hurt”. The rescue of a kidnapped American citizen in Nigeria by US Special Forces on Sunday put the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) on Sunday commenced implementation of revised electricity tariffs across Nigeria. The revised tariffs are based on the decision of the technical committee set up to review the September 1 cost-reflective tariffs, whose implementation was temporarily halted after organised Labour threatened nationwide strike.
