Local hunters working with members of the Amotekun Corps have secured the release of the abducted wife of the Chief of Staff to Ondo governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale. Chief Ale’s wife was abducted on Thursday night while returning from Lagos along the Ondo-Akure highway. She was released after about two days in the kidnappers’ den. Tragedy struck Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti state, after gunmen suspected to be herdsmen murdered a cleric, Rev’d Johnson Oladimeji along Igbara-Odo- Ikere-Ekiti road. Rev. Oladimeji was murdered on Friday evening beside the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology in the town. No fewer than six people were confirmed dead in an accident which involved a truck and a Honda Pilot Jeep in the Ogere area on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has agreed to call off its eight-month-old strike after the Federal Government offered to pay the lecturers N70 billion. The decision to call off the strike was disclosed on the Twitter account of the university union. According to ASUU, the decision followed a meeting with the government team led by Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Abuja, on Friday. A policy group in Nigeria has demanded that American television station, Cable News Network (CNN) apologises to Nigerians for its unprofessional and sensationalized reporting on the Lekki shooting during the EndSARS protest in Lagos.
