The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Abdulrashid Abdullahi Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), today, 3rd December, 2020, to Nigeria from Niamey, Niger Republic, where he was arrested having been declared wanted by a court of competent jurisdiction over a pending criminal trial against him. Maina was arrested on 30 November, 2020 through the collaborative efforts of the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Interpol NCB, Abuja and their Nigerien counterpart. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have filed a suit in a Federal High Court in Abuja praying the court to stop the Judicial Panels of Inquiry set up by state governors to probe police brutality. The suit to halt Judicial Panels was filed by NPF lawyer, Mr. O. M. Atoyebi. It claims that state governors do not have the power to constitute the panels to investigate activities of the police force and its officials as they conducted their statutory duties.
