Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has decried continuous fall in the standard of education in the country, stressing that, many graduates are below par. Adamu, who spoke in Yola, the Adamawa State capital during official commissioning of completed projects in the college, lamented a situation in which graduates can neither read nor write in a tolerable manner. The Kano State Government has announced it will build 5,000 housing units for teachers in public primary and secondary schools in the state. The aim of the scheme is to provide “permanent accommodation” for teachers and their families so that they do not become homeless after retirement, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje stated this at the weekend. Mr. Kelechi Mbagwu, the Managing Director of CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Limited, builder of Pearl Estate, Sangotedo-Ajah, Lagos, has been remanded in custody of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), by the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos. Orders revamp of security around schools The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the deployment of additional operational and investigative assets to support the ongoing search and rescue operations in Kankara and its environs in Katsina State. The deployment is sequel to the unfortunate attack on Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State by heavily armed men on 11th December, 2020 which left some of the students missing. He is Mr Effiong Okon Akwa, the acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Commission, who is to assume headship till completion of the forensic audit.
