As the second wave of coronavirus spreads, Nigerians will in the next five weeks, live with new restrictions to prevent a further spread of COVID-19. The restrictions introduced during the first wave of coronavirus are now expected to return in a bid to curb the spread. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 356 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Monday. The 356 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 78,790. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 180 patients from isolation centers across the country with six new deaths reported. The Federal Capital Territory recorded the highest number of positive cases for the day with 79 cases. The Federal Government has extended the deadline issued to all telecommunications operators in the country to block all Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) without National Identification Number (NIN). This was contained in a statement on Monday by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy. A 66-year-old man, identified as William Agyei was reportedly found dead in a guest house after checking in with a 25-year-old lady believed to be his ‘side chick’. It was learnt that the elderly man checked in at the guest house in Ghana with his alleged side chick but was found dead the next day, and the lady nowhere to be found. Senate President Ahmad Lawan has said that the National Assembly would not accede to another request from the executive to extend the capital implementation of the 2020 budget. Lawan stated this in his remark after the upper chamber passed a N13.58 trillion budget for the 2021 fiscal year.
