The Nigeria Police has arrested sixteen suspects including a pastor allegedly involved in series of violent and unprovoked attacks on security operatives and facilities in some states, particularly in the south-eastern part of the country. The Force public relations officer, Mr. Frank Mba in a statement explained that the arrest was made in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force following sustained and intelligence-driven sting operations. Members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) are set to begin an indefinite strike on Thursday. This followed the expiration of the 60-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government on January 25 for the payment of arrears of salaries of house officers across the country and the review of hazard allowance, among other demands. Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York state lawmakers formally agreed in late-night talks on a deal to legalize recreational marijuana use for adults 21 and over, the governor’s office announced Sunday. Once the underlying legislation passes (Cuomo’s Democratic party holds strong majorities in both legislative chambers), New York will join 14 other states and the District of Columbia in permitting cannabis use. The Federal Government has allayed fears of the possibility of any fake Covid-19 vaccines being administered or sold by unauthorised institutions in the country as it has taken measures against such. This follows a reported letter from the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 regarding the interception of about 3,000 doses of fake Covid-19 vaccine which were Africa-bound from China. China and Iran signed an overarching deal aimed at charting the course of their economic, political and trade relations over the next 25 years.
