IDPs have blocked the Lafia-Makurdi highway in protest over of killings by herdsmen

Hundreds of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have blocked the Makurdi-Lafia highway over alleged killing of 10 persons by herdsmen in their camp on Monday night. They blocked the highway with corpses of the killed inmates, causing a gird lock on the busy expressway. Chandler Good government Index ranks Nigeria as the third-worst country

Nigeria recorded the third-worst score in the inaugural Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI) launched on Monday in Singapore. The CGGI report however failed to capture the 195 countries in the world in it’s report, measuring only 104 countries while leaving out 91 countries from its rankings. The West African country scored 0.319 points to sit at number 102 out of 104 countries on the league table which measures 104 governments’ effectiveness and capabilities in almost 90 per cent of the world’s population. Okada riders in Lagos motorcycle

Members of a transport union in Lagos have clashed with motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada riders, in the Iyana Iba/Alaba Rago and Ojo areas of the state. The Osun Police Command on Monday has launched a manhunt after some suspected gunmen kidnapped a passenger along Ife/Ilesha expressway in Osun State. Bandits release one Greenfield University student

Days after the killing of three of the Greenfield University students abducted last Tuesday, another two of the undergraduates have been confirmed killed by their abductors. Kaduna Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan disclosed this on Monday evening. He said the university has been informed of the development. Gunmen suspected to be bandits kidnapped one person on Sunday night in Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The incident is coming less than a month after one person was kidnapped and ransom of N2 million paid for his release.
