President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday directed the military, police and intelligence agencies to ensure safe and early release of all kidnapped victims, expressing concern over attacks on Kaduna and Niger States, largely targeted at students. Gunmen on Monday afternoon abducted yet-to-be known numbers of passengers at Odo-Osun around Imesi-Ile in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State. Hours after bandits attacked and abducted 140 students from Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna government has ordered immediate closure of 13 schools in locations vulnerable to bandit attacks. The directive issued by Director General of Quality Assurance Authority in the Ministry of Education, Umma Ahmed, to proprietors of private schools, said the closure was with immediate effect. It warned against failure to comply with the directive. Operatives of Ehor Division of Edo State Police Command, have rescued nine travellers who were reportedly kidnapped Sunday morning, at Igieduma village, along Benin/Auchi road. The rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with operatives of other security agencies and the local vigilante group. A Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced a forty-year-old Ifeanyi Ezeji to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine for defiling his 12-year- old house help. Justice E.A. Obile of the Federal high Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers state has convicted and sentenced five oil thieves to different jail terms.
