Bandits kill three, abducts village head, 11 others in Zamfara

Not less than four persons have been killed after an attack by bandits in Tsayau community in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State. Reports say that several residents of the community were kidnapped during the attack as the armed hoodlums invaded the town on Monday. Many other residents were injured during the raid. A community in Abuja has been left in pandemonium since its chief was reportedly kidnapped by bandits on Monday night. The chief, who is the head of Jibi community in Abuja was abducted around 10pm. Nigeria’s inflation rate has dropped to 17.38 percent in July from 17.75 in June 2021, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The latest inflation rate was contained in the ‘Consumer Price Index (CPI) Report for July’ released by the NBS on Tuesday. The bandits who kidnapped 20 persons from the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura in Zamfara, have requested for N350 million as ransom. Uganda is to take in 2,000 refugees who have fled Afghanistan after Taliban militants took power on Sunday. The first group of 500 Afghans are expected to arrive at Entebbe Airport later on Tuesday.
