Bandits have killed a police officer and abducted 23 others after coordinated attacks on Ungwan Maje and Ungwan Laka villages in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The gunmen reportedly invaded the villages in the early hours of Wednesday morning, firing at residents who were still asleep in their homes. According to eyewitness, the assailants first attacked Ungwan Maje where they kidnapped 16 persons, mostly women and children. The gunmen later proceeded to the Ungwan Laka community where they gruesomely murdered a mobile police officer identified as Joshua Markus. Armed bandits have abducted 18 persons who were on their way to Lagos from Ondo state. The assailants reportedly attacked the bus along the Idoani-Ifira Akoko axis in the northern senatorial district of the state. According to reports, the bus was forced to halt on a bad part of the Idoani-Ifira road in Akoko South East Local Government Area of the State where the heavily-armed men had positioned themselves waiting to strike. An official of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) who was identified as Chukwu Odiahu has been stoned to death by unknown persons in Okene, Kogi State. According to a source who spoke with Daily Trust, the victim was stoned to death after he closed from work on Tuesday evening. A Police officer has been shot dead by his colleague at Warawa Divisional Police Headquarters in Kano. The victim identified as Sergeant Basharu Alhassan was reportedly shot by one Inspector Ya’u Yakubu.
