Following the incessant attacks by bandits in Katsina state, telecommunication services have been shut down in 13 local government areas of the state. The latest development is speculated to be a move by security operatives to clamp down on bandits in the state. The affected local government areas include: Sabuwa, Faskari, Dandume, Batsari, Danmusa, Kankara, Jibia, Safana, Dutsin-Ma, Funtua, Bakori, Malumfashi and Kurfi. The Commander of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, ACE-1 Nwanneka Nwokike has warned bank officials against providing foreign exchange to customers who have no intention of travelling outside Nigeria. The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of two undergraduates – Olamilekan Ezekiel Adebayo and Ibrahim Najeeb Omotosho, both students of Kwara State University, KWASU, Molete and Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, respectively over offences bordering on cybercrime. German footballer Jerome Boateng is has appeared in court in Munich over allegations he assaulted his ex-girlfriend in 2018. The defender is accused of injuring the mother of his twin daughters, named as Sherin S, during a dispute on holiday. Prosecutors have accused the former Bayern Munich defender and 2014 World Cup winner of wilful bodily harm. Mr Boateng, 33, has denied the allegations. The Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) has denounced the horrid murder of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) employee, Chukwu Obiahu, in Okene, Kogi State. The victim was allegedly stoned to death by yet-to-be identified persons, on his way home after he closed from work on Tuesday evening. The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed a bill that criminalises open grazing in the state. The House also passed that state’s Value Added Tax (VAT) bill during its sitting on Thursday. Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, after the passage of the bill, ordered the acting clerk, Olalekan Onafeko to convey a copy of the bill to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his final approval.
