The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned the withdrawal of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. The Nigerian police claimed its Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has arrested three of the kidnappers that murdered a senior staff of Dangote Group and also kidnapped five expatriates working for the conglomerate. According to a statement, police said the three suspects were arrested 3 December. They were identified as Abubakar Gide 24, Abdullahi Salihu 22, and Babuga Adamu 25. The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr Ibrahim Idris, said two policemen, three soldiers, one prison official, one Air Force personnel, a staff of Borno Ministry for Agriculture and two members of the Civilian JTF had been arrested for alleged abuse of IDPs. The Human Rights Watch in its report, had accused the Police, Nigerian Army, vigilante groups and camp leaders of raping young girls and women in various IDPs camps. The House of Representatives Committee on Petitions is to submit it findings on Julius Berger and its workers’ dispute to the National Assembly, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Edward Pwajok, has said. Pwajok made the statement after members of the committee visited the Julius Berger labour camps at Kubwa and Life Camp in Abuja on Monday. At least 31 people died in clashes between tribal militia and security forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the weekend, officials say. They say the violence in the central Kasai province was sparked by a row between an uncle and a nephew over the title of a traditional chief. Deputy Governor Hubert Mbingho N’Vula said 13 members of the security forces sent to quell the fighting were among those killed. Eighteen militiamen also died, he said.
