FG activates surveillance systems over bird flu in Kano

On Wednesday, the Kano State government has announced that Avian influenza, popularly known as Bird flu has find its way back to its farms. Dr Shehu Bawa, the Director Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, disclosed this to newsmen in Kano. Bawa said the outbreak was recorded in one of the poultry farms in the state. He said the affected farm had been depopulated while stringent measures were taken to prevent the spread of the disease. “The state government has taken proactive measures to contain the spread of the disease to other farms within the state.” Bawa said…

The Nigerian Senate has rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of Ibrahim Magu as Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, chairman after stalling his confirmation on two occasions. MMM Founder, Sergey Mavrodi has allegedly written an open letter to the Federal Government of Nigeria explaining the benefits of the scheme. The letter was displayed on the page of all participants of the Scheme. It could be recalled that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had warned Nigerians against participating in the scheme which was described as “Ponzi Scheme”. Earlier this month, Fifa president Gianni Infantino proposed a 48-team tournament consisting of 16 groups of three countries each.
