The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Sokoto State Command, seized 135 kilogrammes of cough syrup with codeine believed to be worth about N4m. The agency’s Commander, Mr. Misbahu Idris, said on Saturday that the seized consignments were concealed in 69 cartons at an uncompleted building at the Tamaje area, Eastern bye-pass road, Sokoto. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked rumours that its Acting Chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu, has been removed from office. The Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA) on Saturday distributed household and harmattan kits to 5,600 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Customs House camp in Maiduguri capital. The SEMA Chairman, Mr Satomi Ahmed, who distributed the items to the IDPs in Maiduguri, said that the gesture was to promote hygiene among the people. President-elect Donald Trump on Friday gave Vladimir Putin two thumbs up for not immediately retaliating after the US expelled 35 Russian diplomats and imposed other sanctions for allegedly interfering with the presidential election.
