The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) says it has launched a “detailed investigation”into the alleged danger of mixing Fanta or Sprite with Vitamin C. CPC’s Director-General, Mrs Dupe Atoki, announced this in Abuja on Thursday. “The Consumer Protection Council is keenly interested and extremely concerned about the questions that have arisen from and on account of this judgement. “As such, the discoveries therein the CPC is launching a broad and detailed investigation as a matter of urgency. ‘’Indeed the judgement only serves as a subject of bringing this information to the CPC’s attention. Crude oil deposits have been found in Bida basin in Niger State. Professor Nuhu Obaje, the director of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda University Research Centre, Lapai, made this known on Thursday in Lagos. He said his centre has informed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Niger State Government about its finding. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today docked one Christian Efe Oyovweyho alias Femi Adesina before Justice Z.B Abubakar of the Federal High Court Kano on a two count charge of Obtaining by False Pretence. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has clarified its position on candidates awaiting results being able to write admission examinations into tertiary institutions. The examination body had initially barred candidates without their Ordinary Level results from sitting for the Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board’s initial stand was based on the fact that many institutions have admitted candidates on merit only for them to discover that such candidates do not have qualified O’levels results or the right combination for admission. The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of N1.8 billion allegedly diverted from the coffers of the Nigerian Navy by a former Chief of Naval Staff, Dele Ezeoba. The court gave the forfeiture order following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, pursuant to Section 17 of the Advanced Fee Fraud Act 2006.
