The Operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS bikers early this morning rescued a man involved in a hit and run accident around Ile Zik inward Old Abeokuta – Agege Expressway. The unidentified man, who was hit while crossing the road, went into coma before he regained consciousness. The victim had a fractured right arm. A man has been arrested in the north Belgian port city of Antwerp on suspicion of driving at a crowd. The vehicle, with French number plates, was driven “at high speed” on De Meir, Antwerp’s main shopping street. There were no reports of injuries. Israeli police say a 19-year-old man with American and Israeli citizenship is suspected of making threats against Jewish institutions worldwide. Police arrested the suspect in the south of Israel on Thursday morning over threats against Jewish communities in the US, New Zealand and Australia. He was detained by Israeli cyber-fraud police, after an inquiry with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies. Last month an ex-US journalist was arrested for several of the threats. A 52-year-old trader, Eze Chukwuma, who allegedly defiled his 17-year-old daughter, was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court. Chukwuma who resides at Iyana-Era area of Ijanikin, Lagos, with his daughter is facing a count charge of defilement. The prosecutor, Sgt. Mr Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing on Thursday pledged the commitment of the Federal Government to refund expenditure on the execution of federal roads to state governments. Fashola, who stated this in Ado-Ekiti during a courtesy visit to Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, said the planned refund followed request by several state governments. A white US Army veteran with a hatred for black people travelled to New York City and confronted a black man before killing him with a sword, police say. James Harris Jackson, 28, is said to have taken a bus from Baltimore to New York with the intention of targeting black men.
