Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt has announced his retirement, two days after his hat-trick sealed the Dutch club’s first title since 1999. The Senate has directed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other revenue generating agencies to stop further capital expenditure until they comply with the Fiscal Responsibility Act. ‎It said that the agencies had violated the Act and gave them two weeks to submit their budgets in accordance with the provisions of Section 21 of the law. ‎The directive was sequel to a motion on “Non-submission of 2017 Budget by Public Corporations in Violation of the Fiscal Responsibility Act” moved by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Na’Allah, at Wednesday’s plenary. The family of late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke says it will consider all legal options against the Chief Medical Director of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, over the autopsy conducted on the late politician. Dr Deji Adeleke, the immediate younger brother of the deceased, told newsmen on Wednesday in Ede that the family had not received the autopsy result and would not speculate on its contents. An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old undergraduate, Innocent Onyeoziri, to three years imprisonment for stealing phones in a church. The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, convicted and sentenced Onyeoziri, without an option fine. The undergraduate, who resides on Adaranito Street, Famous Bus Stop, Alapere in Ketu, Lagos, had admitted guilt. Mr David Luna, a U.S. Senior Director for National Security and Diplomacy Anti-Crime Programmes, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, has identified measures for fighting corruption and other crimes across Africa. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has conducted Computer Based Test, CBT, for 1,144,198 candidates since the test began on Saturday. JAMB’s Head of Information and Media, Fabian Benjamin, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja that results were being released within 24 hours of completion of the test. The CBT is the mode JAMB is conducting its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. A total 1,736,571 candidates registered for the 2017 UTME taking place in 642 centres in the country.
