The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, on Monday said that six policemen were arrested for extortion, defilement and attempted murder in the last two weeks. The Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite nationwide strike due to the Federal Government’s failure to fulfil the terms of the 2009 agreement made with the union. The Lagos State Government on Monday outlined plans to transform the blighted areas of Oworonshoki Waterfront into one of the biggest transportation, tourism and entertainment hubs in Nigeria. A 25-year-old robbery suspect, Kingsley Ibe, who was arrested by the police in Niger State for alleged robbery, has denied the crime, saying he was being coerced by the police to make a confessional statement.
