Residents of Jalingo, Taraba, on Monday expressed concern over collapsed Globacom and MTN masts as a result of Saturday’s devastating rainstorm in the town. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Globacom mast, which is just few meters from that of MTN, fell on an eatery and crushed to death three chefs during the Saturday’s rainstorm. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says he met Antoine Griezmann’s agent this season but does not want to add to “speculation” over a move for the Atletico Madrid striker. Bayern Munich forward Franck Ribery has signed a one-year contract extension with the Bundesliga side until 30 June 2019. The 35-year-old Frenchman arrived at Bayern in 2007 and celebrated his eighth German league title this season. The President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara are currently meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, says active mobile phone lines in the country rose from the 148 million in February to 149 million in March. The NCC stated this in its monthly Subscribers Operator Data posted on its website. It said active mobile lines increased from 147,961,791 in February to 148, 854,338 in March. The Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), for active mobile lines, however, recorded 217,566 users in March, same as February. A Kogi High Court in Lokoja on Monday adjourned hearing in a bail application and counter motion brought by Senator Dino Melaye until Thursday. Melaye with Kabiru Seidu, alias Osama, and Nuhu Salihu, aka Small, is standing trial on seven-counts bordering on illegal possession of firearms, criminal conspiracy and illegal dealing in arms. The judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, gave the ruling at the resumed hearing of the motions.
