The Senate Ad hoc Committee on Investigation of Local Content Element on Egina Oil Field is angry over the incessant variations of the $16 billion project. The committee noted that after a two billion dollar variation on the project, there was proposal for another one billion dollar variation. Nigeria is failing to enforce a much heralded ban on female genital mutilation, activists said on Friday, as they urged the country to sort out a “messy patchwork” of laws and beef up efforts to protect girls. A quarter of women in the West African country have undergone the agonising ritual, which can cause serious health problems. At least 15 people were killed in violence in northern and central Nigeria, police and local officials said on Thursday, in the latest unrest to hit the restive regions.
