Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has announced a major cabinet shakeup in which nine Commissioners and two Special Advisers lost their jobs. In a statement signed by Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi, the Secretary to the State Government, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lafia. Abdullahi said the cabinet reshuffle took immediate effect. However, he explained that the decision was to enable the affected persons focus on their political aspirations in the 2019 general elections and for others to pursue their professional/career goals. Nigeria deploys fighter jets to Benin Republic amid coup tensions

Nigeria government has deployed 1000-strong mixed force, comprising the army, air force, police and the civil defence to launch counterattacks on the bandits terrorising the villages and towns in the northern state of Zamfara. The Federal Ministry of Health has recalled 2.4 million bottles of cough syrup containing codeine after a recent audit of the substance carried out by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). A real Nigerian prince Osmond Eweka, who is also the son-in-law of Bright Igbinedion, has been charged with fraud in New York. His trail begins one day after another Nigerian, Ochuko Sylvester Eruotor has been sentenced to 14 years in a US prison.
