The bodies of 99 victims of the EndSARS protests across Lagos state in 2020 have been revealed following the release of a document by the Lagos Judicial Panel on Monday. The list of 99 victims was presented as evidence before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters. The Lagos state Judicial Panel of inquiry panel has submitted a report which says Nigerian soldiers shot and killed #EndSARS protesters October last year. Over ten thousdand Nigerians had taken to the streets last October calling for the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) police unit to be disbanded. The report, leaked on Monday, has identified 48 casualties after the army opened fire on the demonstrators. The Nigerian army has denied shooting live rounds at protesters. Professor John Obafunwa, an anatomy and forensic pathologist says only one body of the 99 bodies presented for autopsy was revealed to have been killed as a result of gunshot at the Lekki toll gate. Prof. Obafunwa in his deposition confirmed that only the body tagged ENDSARS/YABA/2020/062 out of the entire was from to Lekki toll gate. A group of yet-to-be identified gunmen have attacked the Ikpomolokpo palace in Gege ward of Ado Local Government Area, Benue State, killing the son of the traditional ruler.
