Eight African comedy stars will on Sunday, August 12, 2018, storm Accra, Ghana for Glo Laffta Fest. It promises to be an evening of unlimited fun and entertainment. Senate President Bukola Saraki has called an emergency meeting of the  National Assembly leadership for tomorrow to deliberate on critical national issues needing the urgent intervention of the federal lawmakers. The National Assembly adjourned on 24 July and will reconvene 25 September. One of the issues to be discussed is the budget of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which President Muhammadu Buhari sent for consideration before the National Assembly went on recess on 24 July. Police in the US state of New Mexico have rescued 11 malnourished children who were being kept in squalid conditions in a remote desert compound. The local sheriff’s office said the children, aged 1 to 15, had no shoes, were wearing rags and “looked like Third World refugees”. Five adults were found at the scene, including two heavily armed men. Police searched the site after receiving a message that read: “We are starving and need food and water.” It is not clear how the group ended up at the compound in Amalia. Four candidates with links to Ogun state were among the top five that excelled in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
