The Federal Government has expressed commitment to meeting the global standards for combating money laundering and terrorists financing in the country. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry. Tunisia’s ousted autocrat  Zine El Abidine Ben Ali died in exile in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, days after a free presidential election in his homeland. He was 83. The former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, was the first leader to be toppled by the Arab Spring revolts. Tunisia’s foreign minister confirmed his death. “We had confirmation of his death 30 minutes ago,” the ministry said. He had been in intensive care in a hospital for three months. The Gubernatorial Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, has upheld the re-election of  Governor Udom Emmanuel of the People’s Democratic Party,  PDP. READ: Buhari to attend UNGA74 in New York Obong Nsima Ekere, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC had approached the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the March 2019 election that declared Mr. Udom Emmanuel winner. In a tweet by Mr. Laolu Akande, the spokesperson to the Prof. Osinbajo, NEC is the constitutional body that advises the President on the coordination of the economic affairs of the country. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, gave the Federal Government the nod to seize all assets belonging to P&ID Ltd, Virgin Island and its Nigerian affiliate, P&ID Nigeria Ltd. The two firms were found guilty and convicted on an 11-count fraud, tax evasion and money laundering charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against them.
