The Nigerian Army on Sunday says it has dismissed three soldiers arrested among a kidnapping gang in the outskirts of Maiduguri. Maj.-Gen. Olusengun Adeniyi, the Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, disclosed this while handing over the dismissed soldiers to the police in Maiduguri. Adeniyi disclosed that the soldiers were arrested with 22 other suspects by a joint patrol team in the early hours of Sunday at a building in the outskirts of Maiduguri. The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) said that the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) dropped by 10.78 million litres to 50.22 million litres per day due to closure of the borders. Mr Kimchi Apollo, PPPRA spokesman, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. He said that the high volume of fuel supply before the closure of the border was mainly as a result of widespread smuggling of the commodity. Junior workers in the employment of the Federal Government have started receiving the N30,000 minimum wage, Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, said at the weekend. Ngige, who spoke in Enugu, said the payment to levels 1 to 6 commenced last month. India’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested a Nigerian man identified as Hope Uzodima in Mumbai for alleged possession of dangerous weapons. The suspect, a 40-year-old man who lives in Bonkhode village in Koparkhairane was arrested for possession of ivory and a sword cane. Another Nigerian named King Chukwudi Fidelis who is also in police net fast-tracked his arrest as he helped the police with information.
