An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered a 56-year-old man, Akinbomi Ademola, to be remanded in prison for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Sule-Amzat, also ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions. Sule-Amzat, who did not take the plea of the defendant, adjourned the case until November 14 for mention. Generating Companies (GenCos), comprising gas-fired and hydro stations said that they could not generate 2,352.5 megawatts of electricity on Wednesday due to unavailability of distribution infrastructure. This was contained in a daily energy report by the Advisory Power Team, office of the Vice President, a copy of which was obtained by NAN in Abuja on Thursday. The report also attributed the 2,352.5 megawatts not generated to high frequency. A sexagenarian, Charles Chikwe, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos charged with duping a woman of N150, 000 and valuables worth N627, 000  on the pretext of marrying her. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a close audit of the government organization set up in 2000 to develop the oil-rich but stubbornly poor Niger Delta region. Despite the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) having been at work for nearly 20 years, the region remains largely underdeveloped. The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) on Thursday in Abuja, shared a total of N693.529 billion to the three tiers of government for the month of September, 2019. NAN reports that the N693.529 billion comprised revenue from Value Added Tax (VAT), Exchange Gain and Gross Statutory Revenue in the month. A communiqué read by the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) Mr Ahmed Idris, confirmed that the gross statutory revenue for the month of September was N599.701 billion. The Federal Government and organised labour have finally reached an agreement on the percentage increase on the consequential adjustment in workers’ salaries from level 7-14 and 15-17.
