Tragedy struck in Amasiri in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Saturday as a bridegroom, Chukwuemeka Onwuka, slumped at the reception venue and later died in hospital. Onwuka was getting married to one Miss Onyinyechi Amadi Ugbor of the Ihie village in the Amasiri community. The deceased was an ophthalmologist, who hailed from Item in the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has established a tax office dedicated solely to the administration of taxes for Non-Resident Persons. This was contained in a Public Notice signed by the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Tunde Fowler. The Police have arrested 18-year-old Elikor Ehud in Ejigbo for allegedly stealing tithes and offerings belonging to Chosen Vine Ministry, Furniture Avenue. The Ministry of Communications has ordered MTN and all other telecoms organisation to immediately stop the charges on USSD banking transaction that is to kick off on 21 October. The Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Alhaji Usman Gur says the Federal Government in collaboration with international donor agencies has set aside over 1.61 billion dollars to ensure constant power supply in the country. The Nigerian Army has said that seven terrorists died when their vehicle stepped on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) they planted for troops in Lamba forest along Jakana-Mainok road in Borno. Col. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says it has over 700, 000 National e-ID cards yet to be collected by Nigerians from its offices nationwide. Mrs Hadiza Dagabana, the acting Director-General of NIMC disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Abuja.
