Mukhlis bin Muhammad of the Aceh Ulema Council (MPU) was flogged 28 times. The woman he had the affair with was caned 23 times, BBC reports. International auctioneers will sell the N14.4 billion ($40 million) jewellery recovered from former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said on Thursday. The acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, said auctioneers would also sell off the luxury houses recovered from the former minister and other fraud suspects. According to Magu, the presence of ‘internationally certified’ auctioneers would make the process transparent. As Operation Positive Identification begins nationwide today, the Nigerian Army on Thursday allayed fears of right abuses against citizens. The operation involves soldiers requesting people to identify themselves as part of efforts to track down fleeing insurgents and other criminals. The operation started in the Northeast on September 22. Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its proposed strike over Federal Government’s directive to enroll its members into the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
