Nigeria and neighbouring countries Benin and Niger have agreed to set up a joint border patrol force to tackle smuggling between the West African countries, they said in a communique on Thursday. Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have urged individuals and group to desist from protesting at the Headquarters of Department of State Services (DSS) to avoid breach of national security. The Borno Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Kabiru Wanori, on Friday, announced plans by the state government to rehabilitate the 42-year old Maiduguri Zoological Garden. Wanori told NAN in Maiduguri that the zoological garden would be restocked and upgraded, in line with international standard. He disclosed that the state government had adopted proactive measures to reinvigorate the garden, encourage tourism development and boost its revenue base. Busola Dakolo says that court judgment delivered on Thursday in the rape case against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) did not exonerate him. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distribution of sensitive materials to various Registration Area Centres (RACs) in Bayelsa ahead of the Saturday governorship election. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) have concluded arrangement to sign a 1.16 million dollar grant as part funding for the NNPC-Abuja Independent Power Project (IPP). The Corporation disclosed this in a statement by Mr Samson Makoji, acting spokesman for NNPC, in Abuja on Thursday.
