The Federal Government has inaugurated a new Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code (NGTNC) to enhance gas production and revenue generation in the country. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva inaugurated the code at the opening of the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) in Abuja on Monday. The Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has secured the conviction of one Usman Adamu Shagari, who was prosecuted for producing and selling adulterated fertilizer in the Gombe Metropolitan City and Lariski village in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. He was brought before Justice Fatima Musa of Gombe State High Court and charged with six counts. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) disclosed that it recorded a 94 per cent spike in the cases of wilful hacking and destruction of its pipelines across the country last November. The information, which fingered oil thieves as culprits, was contained in the 53rd edition of the NNPC Monthly Financial and Operations Report (MFOR). According to the report, 68 pipeline points were vandalised, representing about 94 per cent increase from the 35 points that were breached in October 2019. There was serious panic in Nekede, near Owerri, on Monday morning, following the reported escape of a male hyena from the Imo Zoological Garden and Wildlife Park. The General Manager of the park, Mr Francis Abioye, confirmed the development to the NAN in Owerri. Abioye said that the animal was caught by wildlife experts in the zoo, six hours after its escape.
