A Nigerian medical team investigating reports of a rise in deaths in Jigawa State that could have been coronavirus-related says it found no evidence to support the claims. The five medics were sent to the town of Hadeja following rumours of an increase in fatalities. The head of the investigation said that 92 people had died in the space of eight days, which was not unusual. The investigation was unable to rule out that the deaths were linked to coronavirus as tests had not been carried out. At least 50 persons may have been abducted while over 300 injured following a brutal communal clash between Omor and Umunbo villages in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State. Lagos state, the commercial city of Nigeria and the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic has recorded its highest single daily figures of positive persons with 183 confirmed cases. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the single highest number of coronavirus cases in the country since the index case was recorded. The 381 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control on Thursday takes the total number of confirmed cases to 3526. There is encouragement in the fact that 67 patients were discharged on Thursday with four deaths recorded. Lagos, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported a staggering 183 cases, the highest in a single day. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday restrained the Federal Government from taking steps to extradite to a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Buruji Kashamu to the United State on allegation of his complicity in illicit drug trade. The Health Minister on Thursday said the self-isolation policy, especially for those coming into the country failed because at that time, there were a multiplication of COVID-19 cases from such persons.
