Scientists are running a trial to see if ibuprofen can help hospital patients who are sick with coronavirus. The team from London’s Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital and King’s College believe the drug, which is an anti-inflammatory as well as a painkiller, could treat breathing difficulties. They hope the low-cost treatment can keep patients off ventilators. In the trial, called Liberate, half of the patients will receive ibuprofen in addition to usual care. President Muhammadu Buhari has notified the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and other security agencies to ensure the protection of telecom infrastructure across the country. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 241 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Tuesday. The 241 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 10819. The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said that churches and mosques in the state will not be reopened soon for worshippers. The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, said this on the sideline of the 2020 Ministerial Press Briefing commemorating the first year in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
