Lagos residents seeking to have COVID-19 testing can now access any of the 20 test centres closest to them if they notice any coronavirus symptoms. Lagos, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic has recorded 5663 COVID-19 cases. Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday jailed 16 internet fraudsters for criminal impersonation and possession of documents containing false pretences. Two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Chief (Sir) Alfred Oghogho Eghobamien and Sir Jadegoke Adebonajo Badejo died on Friday following illnesses. Eghobamien was born on June 5, 1935 (85 years). He is the father of Mr Osaro Eghobamien SAN. Sir Eghobamien was called to the English Bar and the Nigerian Bar in the years 1972 and 1973 respectively. He was conferred with the rank of SAN in 1995. Shomuyiwa Azeezat, a female postgraduate student of the University of Ibadan, was murdered in her rented apartment at Aba Ijefun, Akinyele area on Friday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Azeezat, said to be seven-months pregnant, was a postgraduate student of the Department of Social Work in the Faculty of Education. Mr Simon Emeka, 38, who allegedly raped his 7-months old daughter has been remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Service on the orders of a Makurdi Magistrate, Mr Isaac Ajim. Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi on Friday warned that Lagos State may have no more bed spaces for coronavirus patients in three weeks if the cases keep rising. Confirmed cases across the country rose by 328 to a total of 11844 on Friday according to figures released by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). A constitutional lawyer Barrister Temilolu Adamolekun, has filed a suit before a Federal High Court in Lagos, challenging the constitutionality of Regulation 15A of the Petroleum Amendment and Guidelines for the release of staff in Nigerian oil and gas sector.
