Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered a violent robbery Monday morning at his home in Castelldefels (Barcelona).
At least four men climbed in through the garden, threatened him with firearms and iron bars, and beat him, according to police sources.
The thieves, in addition, threatened the footballer and his wife with the weapons until they were forced to open the safe for them, from which they carted away several jewels. The thieves later escaped in a white Audi A3.
The robbery took place at approximately one in the morning. The Spanish police are now investigating who could have been the perpetrators. The player’s wife notified the police of what had happened, according to sources.
Although burglars have targeted soccer players’ homes before, they often do it when they know the occupants are away from home. Or they do it in a way that their presence is not noted, as Jordi Alba did in 2018.
Barcelona said Aubameyang and his wife were OK following the robbery.
The Gabon international, 33, was an unused substitute as Barcelona beat Real Valladolid 4-0 at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
