Tammy Abraham, who came on as a substitute, netted his first Premier League goal for Aston Villa since rejoining the club, helping the hosts earn a draw with Leeds United.

The visitors were just moments away from achieving only their second away league victory of the season after a magnificent 30-yard free kick by Anton Stach put them ahead.

Stach netted in the 31st minute, seeming to aim for the far post but instead caught Emiliano Martinez off guard and shot the ball into the upper corner.

However, Abraham, who returned to Villa in an £18.2m transfer from Besiktas at the close of the January window, equalized at 1-1 by kneeing the ball into the net after Ezri Konsa secured a knockdown off a corner.

For Villa, who could have matched second-placed Manchester City on points with a victory, it was a well-earned point, as they controlled the game after falling behind.

In first-half injury time, they had a strong opportunity to level the score, but Karl Darlow made a fantastic save to prevent Amadou Onana from scoring. The hosts fought for an equalizer, but Darlow executed a brilliant one-handed save to deflect Emiliano Buendia’s shot onto the post.

However, Darlow was ultimately defeated in the 88th minute as Villa secured a tie.

Villa stays in third place, seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal, who face Tottenham in the North London derby on Sunday.

In the meantime, Leeds’ point puts them seven clear of the relegation zone.
