The Nigerian Army has warned that more Boko Haram suicide bombers may still be in Maiduguri following multiple deadly explosions on Monday night.

Borno state police confirmed that 23 people were killed and 108 others injured when bombs detonated around 7:24 p.m., targeting a major market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office flyover.

Police spokesperson Nahum Daso said, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the incidents were carried out by suspected suicide bombers.” The army echoed this, noting that the attacks were designed to inflict mass casualties and sow panic in the city.

Sani Uba, spokesperson for Operation HADIN KAI, said: “Preliminary information indicates multiple suicide bombers may have been deployed into Maiduguri to carry out coordinated attacks.”

Security forces, alongside the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and other agencies, responded swiftly. The affected areas were secured, and emergency teams, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), evacuated victims to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The army urged residents to stay calm but vigilant, avoid crowded areas where possible, and report suspicious activity immediately.
