Argentina is the top-ranked team in the most recent FIFA rankings, which were released on Thursday, bolstering their position ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Albiceleste remain at the top of the world football rankings after an excellent victory in recent international matches, with Spain and France in second and third position, respectively.
Spain remained in second place after a tie and a win in their most recent games, while France dropped to third after losing before recovering with consecutive victories.
England and Portugal complete the top five, with Brazil in sixth place.
Nigeria remained 26th in the global standings despite a string of mixed outcomes in recent encounters. The Super Eagles had a fantastic run at the Unity Cup in London, defeating Zimbabwe and Jamaica.
However, the three-time African champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Poland before losing narrowly 2-1 to Portugal in an international friendly.
Morocco remains Africa’s highest-ranked country, sitting seventh in the world and maintaining its spectacular progress on the global scene.
The current rankings come as emphasis shifts to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The tournament, which has been enlarged to 48 teams for the first time, is projected to be the largest in FIFA history.
