    Appeal: Ex-govs Nyame, Dariye know fates Friday

    Joshua Dariye, former Plateau governor is accused of mismanaging N1.16bn ecological fund

    The Court of Appeal in Abuja, will tomorrow, November 16, 2018 decide the fates of Reverend Jolly Nyame and Senator Joshua Dariye of Taraba and Plateau states respectively.

    They are currently serving 14 years imprisonment each for fraud.

    While the court will deliver judgment in Dariyes’s appeal at 9am, Nyame’s fate will be decided at 11am.

    It would be recalled that High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, presided by Justice Adebukola Banjoko on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 sentenced former governor Joshua Dariye who was a serving senator to 14 years’ imprisonment on charges of criminal breach of trust and criminal appropriation of the state’s funds running to over N2bn.

    The ex-governor was convicted on 15 out the 23 counts preferred against him in July 2007.

    Similarly, Jolly Nyame was convicted on a total of 27 out of the 41 counts preferred against him.

    He was convicted and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment with the highest being 14 years for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust, criminal misappropriation and receiving gratification as a public officer.

    Shortly after the sentence, the two former governors, in separate appeals approached the Appellate Court seeking to be discharged of any wrong doing.
