The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that its presidential primary election for the 2027 general election will hold on May 23, 2026, dismissing reports suggesting the exercise had been postponed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Felix Morka described claims circulating on social media and other communication platforms about changes to the party’s timetable as false and misleading.
According to the timetable released by the party, the house of representatives primary election will hold on May 15, while the senate primary is scheduled for May 18.
The APC also fixed May 20 for the state house of assembly primary election and May 21 for the governorship primary.
The presidential primary election is slated for May 23, 2026.
The development comes days after the party began screening incumbent governors ahead of the 2027 polls.
Governors screened by the committee included Abba Yusuf, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Nasir Idris, Caleb Mutfwang, and Hyacinth Alia.
Others screened were Sheriff Oborevwori, Umar Bago, Dauda Lawal, Bassey Otu, and Ahmed Aliyu.
