Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, has advised Nigerians to be calm and continue to support the Federal Government and security agencies in the fight against insecurity.

According to a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday, Oyintiloye made the call while engaging with journalists in Osogbo, expressing confidence that the country’s current security difficulties will be history with the help of all stakeholders.

He stated that the Federal Government is stepping up efforts to combat all types of criminality and secure the safety of people and property throughout the country.

According to him, the government is genuinely worried about the current security situation and is taking strong action to eliminate all types of insecurity.

Oyintiloye stated that President Bola Tinubu’s resolution during his Democracy Day address, which declared zero tolerance for terrorists and their collaborators, demonstrated the administration’s commitment to restoring peace.

“We share the pain of parents, families, and relatives of victims currently devastated by mass abductions, especially of schoolchildren, and the ongoing killings by terrorists. It is a tragic situation, and no one would wish such experiences on themselves or their loved ones. We truly feel their pain.

“However, we must remain hopeful and continue to support government efforts to rescue those in captivity and bring perpetrators to justice. Intelligence and security operatives are actively working to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for acts of violence.

“No criminal element will be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of the nation. The government is doing everything within its power to secure the release of abducted victims and end the senseless killings across the country,” he said.

Speaking further, he expressed trust in Nigeria’s security personnel’s professionalism, competence, and dedication, stating that they have the ability to root out criminal elements and restore long-term peace.

“If necessary, service chiefs should review and adjust their operational strategies without hesitation, as time is of the essence,” he added.

He also urged state governors to support the president’s efforts by providing necessary support and resources to security agencies under their control.

While appreciating Tinubu’s constitutional duty as the nation’s Chief Security Officer, Oyintiloye emphasised the need for governors and local government chairmen to be closer to the grassroots and take proactive measures to improve local intelligence and keep peace.

He emphasised that no country can accomplish significant progress in an atmosphere of insecurity, pointing out that economic growth, infrastructure development, investment, and social services survive only in a tranquil environment.

“A nation with a strong and effective security system is better positioned for accelerated development, economic prosperity, and sustainable social services,” he said.

He urged residents to remain watchful, assist with security authorities by providing timely and relevant information, and pray for the country’s peace, unity, and growth.
