Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says he would have “no problem” if the club decides to part ways with him following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The defending champions were knocked out after a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Arsenal on Wednesday, resulting in a 5-1 aggregate defeat.

The loss marked Real Madrid’s 12th defeat of the season, a stark contrast to the mere two they suffered throughout the entire previous campaign.

“It could be that the club decide to change (coach), it could be this year – or the next when my contract expires, there’s no problem,” Ancelotti told reporters.

“The day that I leave here I can only thank the club.

“It could be tomorrow, in 10 days, in a month or a year, but all I can do will be to thank the club – if my contract’s up or not, I don’t care.”

Speculation has already begun over possible successors, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso—an ex-Real Madrid player—and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp among the names being linked to the role.

Despite the European disappointment, Ancelotti emphasized that his team remains in contention for several major trophies, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Club World Cup scheduled for this summer.

“The team gave everything in terms of attitude, but we weren’t able to do it,” he admitted.

“To be honest Arsenal defended very well, we found it hard to find space, in terms of intensity we were better but it was not enough.”

The Italian tactician’s calm demeanor in the face of uncertainty reflects his vast experience and the deep respect he holds for the Madrid institution. However, with fan expectations high and big names lurking in the wings, the coming weeks could be pivotal for Ancelotti’s future at the Bernabéu.
