The family of late Nollywood actress, director and producer Allwell Ademola has confirmed that she was 49 years old at the time of her death, correcting earlier reports that placed her age at 43.
In an official statement released on Sunday and signed by Adeboyega Adebayo on behalf of the Ademola family, the actress was said to have passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
“With heavy hearts and total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, and aunt, Princess Allwell Ademola, who departed this life on Saturday, the 27th day of December, 2025, at the age of 49,” the statement read.
The family described Ademola as a proud daughter of the Ademola family of Ogun State and a great-granddaughter of the Alake of Egbaland. They noted that she devoted her life to the creative arts, excelling as an actor, filmmaker and singer.
“From childhood until her passing she distinguished herself as a thespian, actor, singer, and filmmaker, touching many lives through her art, talent, and unwavering dedication to the creative industry,” the family said.
They also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received since her death. “The Ademola family sincerely appreciates the love, prayers, and messages of condolence from colleagues, friends, and well-wishers across the world during this difficult time.”
Details of her burial arrangements, the family added, would be announced later.
The clarification follows earlier reports within the entertainment industry which claimed the actress died at 43 after suffering a heart attack at her Lagos residence.
Since the news broke, tributes have continued to pour in from Nollywood stars and fans. Actress Faithia Williams wrote on Instagram, “Haaaa. This hit me so bad. Eniobanke. Allahu Akbar..Allwell,” while others, including Mide Martins, expressed shock and deep sadness over her sudden passing.
Allwell Ademola featured in numerous Yoruba and English-language Nollywood films and was also active behind the scenes as a producer and director. She was also a granddaughter of the late Adetokunbo Ademola, former Chief Justice of Nigeria.
“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the family concluded.
